D-Max
Single Cab Pick Up 1.9 164PS Utility 4x2
Isuzu
The Isuzu D-Max is a pick-up built for people who actually work it. Isuzu has never chased the lifestyle end of the market the way some rivals have, and the D-Max is better for it: a 1.9-litre turbo diesel, a proper ladder-frame chassis and a payload that stays above a tonne across the whole range, which is what keeps it inside commercial-vehicle tax treatment.
There are three body styles. The Single Cab is the load-carrier, with the longest bed and the highest payload in the range at 1,205 kg. The Extended Cab adds rear-hinged half doors and occasional seating for five without giving up much bed length. The Double Cab is the one most businesses order, with five full seats and a payload still comfortably over a tonne, so it doubles as a crew bus and a site vehicle.
Four-wheel drive is available across the range, and every 4x4 D-Max tows 3,500 kg braked, the legal maximum for the class. The 4x2 Single Cab tows 2,500 kg. Trim runs from the workmanlike Utility through DL20 and DL40 to the V-Cross, which adds the cosmetic and comfort kit if the truck doubles as a company car.
Isuzu's five-year, 125,000-mile warranty is the reason a lot of fleets keep coming back, particularly operators running trucks hard on site or on farms.
